Why worship this God of Israel 2

From the first part of this article(http://www.righthaand.com/why-worship-this-god-of-israel/) we heard from mouths of various Non-Israelites why we should worship this God of Israel and now we deem it appropriate to study further and find out how we became to be worshipers of this God of Israel.Much we get from the writings of saint Paul. In Romans 9(CEV),we hear how God in His Majesty chose to love and accept other people who were non-israelites to become also His People. Romans 9:25(CEV) ”Although they are not
my people,
I will make them my people.
I will treat with love
those nations
    that have never been loved.”

Here Paul clearly teaches us that its God who chose to love us and not vice versa. In Romans 10:19-20(CEV), we learn from Paul that God accepted to be identified with and be found by other people as a way of spiritually awakening the Israelites who had slacked in matters to do with their God,what a merciful way of bringing salvation to both the Israelites and non-israelites because by doing this God allowed salvation to be eternally found by both groups of people ‘I will make Israel jealous of people who are a nation
    of nobodies.

I will make them angry
    at people
who don’t understand
a thing” I was found by people
who were not looking
    for me.

I appeared to the ones
who were not asking
    about me.

In Romans 11(CEV), Paul clearly explains how us the non-israelites(Gentiles) we were conjoined to the Israelites (God’s Chosen) and saved ,Romans 11:11-23(CEV) ” Do I mean that the people of Israel fell, never to get up again? Certainly not! Their failure made it possible for the Gentiles to be saved, and this will make the people of Israel jealous. But if the rest of the world’s people were helped so much by Israel’s sin and loss, they will be helped even more by their full return.I am now speaking to you Gentiles, and as long as I am an apostle to you, I will take pride in my work. I hope in this way to make some of my own people jealous enough to be saved. When Israel rejected God,the rest of the people in the world were able to turn to him. So when God makes friends with Israel, it will be like bringing the dead back to life. If part of a batch of dough is made holy by being offered to God, then all of the dough is holy. If the roots of a tree are holy, the rest of the tree is holy too. You Gentiles are like branches of a wild olive tree that were made to be part of a cultivated olive tree. You have taken the place of some branches that were cut away from it. And because of this, you enjoy the blessings that come from being part of that cultivated tree.  But don’t think you are better than the branches that were cut away. Just remember that you are not supporting the roots of that tree. Its roots are supporting you.Maybe you think those branches were cut away, so that you could be put in their place. That’s true enough. But they were cut away because they did not have faith, and you are where you are because you do have faith. So don’t be proud, but be afraid.  If God cut away those natural branches, couldn’t he do the same to you? Now you see both how kind and how hard God can be. He was hard on those who fell, but he was kind to you. And he will keep on being kind to you, if you keep on trusting in his kindness. Otherwise, you will be cut away too.If those other branches will start having faith, they will be made a part of that tree again. God has the power to put them back.  After all, it wasn’t natural for branches to be cut from a wild olive tree and to be made part of a cultivated olive tree. So it is much more likely that God will join the natural branches back to the cultivated olive tree.”

So succintly Paul is telling us that we are engrafted to the Israelites hence we ought to remain faithful and humble to God ,in lack of which we can also be done away with like the rebellious natural branches (israelites) which were done away with and we found space.

Romans 11:30-32(CEV), reveals God’s great plan of mercy ” At one time you Gentiles rejected God. But now Israel has rejected God, and you have been shown mercy. And because of the mercy shown to you, they will also be shown mercy.  All people have disobeyed God, and that’s why he treats them as prisoners. But he does this, so that he can have mercy on all of them.”

And finally we can’t forget John 3:16(CEV) ” God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die ” This identifies for us the universal chance of everyone who believes in our Lord Jesus Christ to be saved.Paul goes further to explain this by stating “11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)— 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, 16 and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. 17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.” Ephesian 2:11-22.

In a nutshell this article gives a brief overview of our journey of salvation and leaves no room of the reader feigning ignorance on which god to worship, there is one and only true God and any encounter with Him will never leave you the same again.
